You might recognize this mama from her downtown maternity session. Well baby Kenny finally decided to come earth side a few weeks ago.
I had this vision in my head for what I wanted this session to be. I was going to get to practice all sorts of poses, and really build up my posed newborn portfolio. Well Kenny had a different idea.
His mama and I worked for hours trying to get him to stay asleep as we were putting him down. I finally got one shot in before he woke up again. In all of that craziness, I was reminded of something.
I was reminded why I started this journey in the first place: to document life as it's happening. While I think posed newborn photography is beautiful, and I will probably continue to try my hand at it, what truly inspires me and makes me happy is a session like this. The raw beauty of a baby and mother bonding is just incredible to be witness to. I love that I am able to capture that from an outside perspective and deliver something to the mother that she will look back on and cherish for a lifetime. I want my images to inspire and provoke all those feelings of love and joy that were felt when baby was still so new, and when mom was new too.
